Grapes of Maulana
Maulana Fazl-Ur-Rahman |
Grapes of Maulana
Allah Ta'ala honors whom He wills and humiliates whom He wills. A living example of this before us is Maulana Fazlur Rahman. Before the elections of February 2024, Muslim League (N) ignored Maulana Sahib. Even before the elections, it was being said that this time Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam will disappear from the political scene of Pakistan and Maulana Fazlur Rehman will become a beggar from a political player. Muslim League (N) had a bad time during Imran Khan's regime. So this party formed an alliance called Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) and made Maulana Fazlur Rehman its head.
When Maulana started PDM Jalsa processions, at that time General Qamar Javed Bajwa opened some backdoor channels with Muslim League (N) and thus the manipulation to topple Imran Khan's government started. After the change of government, Shahbaz Sharif became the Prime Minister, whenever he needed a demonstration of political power, he sought help from Maulana because JUI was included in his government. After the return of Nawaz Sharif, distance was deliberately created from Maulana Fazlur Rehman so that Muslim League (N) would not be considered as an ally of fundamentalists.
For a long time, Maulana was under the misconception that the Muslim League (N) would form an alliance with him in the elections as the head of the PDM. Their misunderstanding was cleared when the Muslim League (N) told them that if your candidate participates in the elections on the lion sign, then we will give you some seats. Maulana was convinced that the Muslim League (N) had decided to fly alone. So instead of debating, they left matters to Allah. As a precautionary measure, he submitted nomination papers from Dera Ismail Khan as well as Pishin. He faced Ali Amin Gandapur in Dera. Gandapur won.
Maulana won from the seat of Pashin. When they made accusations of rigging the elections, Muslim League (N) said that the Tehreek-e-Insaaf has won against you, you should protest against them. Imran Khan, the founder of Tehreek-e-Insaaf, has forgotten his old accusations against Maulana and started efforts to establish a political alliance with him. Maulana showed caution in this matter.
During the dictatorship of General Ziaul Haq, he became an ally of the People's Party in the restoration of democracy movement. But in 1988, the People's Party ignored the JUI and gained power by dealing with the then President Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Army Chief General Aslam Baig. Later in 2024, Muslim League (N) did the same thing to Maulana, so Tehreek-e-Insaf people started visiting Maulana's house, so Maulana was cautious. Instead of forming a new alliance, he announced a policy of issue-to-issue cooperation with the opposition parties.
When the full bench of the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Tehreek-e-Insaf on the issue of reserved seats in the National Assembly, the government started planning to block the future Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Mansoor Ali Shah. Under this plan, it was decided to introduce the 26th Amendment to the Constitution.
The government also needed Maulana Fazlur Rehman's vote for the constitutional amendment. To get these votes, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif themselves went to Maulana and asked for his votes. Maulana said to the Prime Minister in very clear words that you are an experienced politician, if you were in my place, would you take such a big uterus overnight?
Shahbaz Sharif returned empty handed. After that, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also kept knocking on Maulana's door. When Maulana consulted his party, his colleagues also advised him to stay away from the government. During this time, some government figures continued to claim that Maulana Fazlur Rehman had been arrested in our cause. When we asked an important government figure the reason for his claim, he winked and said that Maulana has been issued orders from a place where Maulana cannot refuse.
In this misunderstanding, a meeting of both the houses of the Parliament was called for the approval of the 26th constitutional amendment.
When the draft of this constitutional amendment was provided to Maulana, he raised the most objections to the changes made in Article 8 of the Constitution. Article eight deals with fundamental human rights. When Maulana expressed his concerns in front of Prime Minister Nazir Tarar in a meeting, he slapped his hand on the table with great pomp and said that we have decided to pass this amendment at any cost. It was on this occasion that the Maulana saw a glimpse of Raunt in the Wazir Sahib's grandeur and rejected the proposed draft of this constitutional amendment. The government was stunned by Maulana's refusal. Why were they thinking that Maulana was increasing his rate? Maulana's refusal shocked the government but Maulana was getting respect from all sides.
Now all those gentlemen should consider their words who were telling the media that the government's numbers game is complete. Maulana has repeatedly told the Prime Minister and his ministers that I will not be a part of any constitutional amendment aimed at destroying the structure of the constitution.
Then why did these gentlemen continue to claim that the numbers game is over?
Yes! The reason for their confidence was the place from where these sahibs immediately bow down to the orders coming from them. Maulana did not deny this place nor any insolence, he explained his defendant with great politeness because Maulana can speak many foreign languages.
After its failure and disgrace, the government has started a new effort through Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The grape harvest is ready in Maulana's political garden. Everyone including Muslim League (N), People's Party and Tehreek-e-Insaaf are in the process of plucking the grapes of this garden. Maulana will personally send some grapes from his garden to trusted friends as gifts, but if someone tries to steal grapes by trickery or cunning, remember that these grapes are currently sour and wait a little longer. Now you are the beggar and Maulana is the giver.
